I. N. Throckmorton,
Pioneer Resident, Dead

Isaac N. Throckmorton, resident of St. John since 1909, passed away at his home, Tuesday, Feb. 4, following an illness of two years.

He was the third child of Morford and Agnes (Elder) Throckmorton, born in Pennsylvania, March 28, 1852. When three years old he moved to Iowa with his parents, two brothers and two sisters, where he grew to manhood.

On September 20, 1874 he was united in marriage to Harriett Newel Malone.

In the spring of 1877, urged by the call "Go West" he went to Wichita, Kansas, later homesteading near Freeport, Kansas.

At the opening of the Cherokee Strip in 1893, he ran a race for another piece of land which the governor opened for homes, living on this farm for ten years. In 1903 he moved to Oklahoma and in 1909 came to Whitman county.

Mrs. Throckmorton passed away in June, 1918. In 1920 he was married to Emily Hoffman of Brenham, Texas, who also preceded him in death in June, 1938.

He is survived by 12 living children, 46 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
