Indian Campaigns Medal of Honor Recipient. He was a Sergeant in the US Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a Corporal in Company A, 23d US Infantry for action at Fort Hartsuff, Nebraska on April 28, 1876. His citation reads "Gallantry in charge on hostile Sioux."
