Medical Pioneer. He performed the first gall-bladder surgery in the nation in 1867. Served in the U.S. Army 1st Brigade during the American Civil War. He was also an Indiana State Senator. Elected as a Senator for Marion County from Indiana, he served two terms in the State Senate from 1857 & 1859.
