PROMINENT BRILLION BUSINESS MAN DIES

W. A. Baker, 57, well known Brillion business man, died at his home Friday following a several months’ illness of heart trouble.

Mr. Baker was born at Hayton on Dec. 28, 1874 and was married to Miss Catherine Miller at Chilton Aug. 2, 1897. The couple located at Brillion, which has since been their home. Mr. Baker conducted a blacksmith shop at Brillion for many years and later opened the Brillion Tire Shop, which he conducted until five years ago. Failing health compelled him to abandon this enterprise and he became a salesman for Watkins products and later for the Fuller Brush Co. During all these years, Mrs. Baker conducted a successful millinery business and the family have been held in high esteem by all. Mr. Baker was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Modern Woodmen of Brillion.

Survivors are his wife and one daughter, Miss Marie, a student at the University of Wisconsin; two sisters, Mrs. Richard Salter, Fond du Lac; and Miss Florence Baker of Waukesha; and one brother, John of Seattle, Wash.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from St. Mary’s Church, Brillion, Rev. M. Krause officiated. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Brillion.
