Rev. Dr. Edmund Janes Gwynn was the son of Rev. William and Matilda (Beverson) Gwynn. He was the husband of Mary Lowry Bloom Gwynn. They were married Martinsburg, Pennsylvania December 20, 1880. He was a minister in the New Jersey Conference and Genesee (now Western New York) Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Churches served in the Genesee Conference were: Belmont, Allegany Co., Olean District, New York 1889 - Machias, Cattaraugus Co., Olean Dist., New York 1890-1891 - East Bloomfield, Ontario Co., Rochester Dist., New York 1892-1894 - Penfield, Monroe Co., Rochester Dist., New York 1895-1899 - Williamsville, Erie Co., Buffalo Dist., New York 1901-1902 - withdrawn from Genesee Conference 1905.

Edmund Janes GWYNN, Ph.D., D.D., LL.D.
--He graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1887, where he studied later as a graduate student and received the degree of Ph.D. in 1892. He was ordained by the New Jersey Methodist Episcopal Conference in 1888. He entered the Seminary at Princeton as a graduate student in 1905, remaining one year. He was president of Scio College, Ohio, in 1900. From 1902 to 1905 he was president of Keystone College, Martinsburg, Pa., an institution which was started but collapsed because of lack of financial support. He was pastor of the Presbyterian church at Elmer, New Jersey, from May 9, 1907, to June 30, 1919. After this he resided in Martinsburg, Pa., until his death, June 18, 1922, in the Nason Hospital of Roaring Spring, Pa., of a complication of diseases, in the 65th year of his age. He was buried in the Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg, Pa. He received the honorary degree of D.D. from Wesleyan University, Illinois in 1893, and that of LL.D from the University of Pennsylvania in 19_9.
