The group was formed in 1953 in New York, New York, by Clyde McPhatter, who at the time was in the group, 'The Dominoes,' founded by Billy West in 1950. The group was very successful up until 1997, when bandmember Johnny Moore died. At the time of Moore's death, only one of the original group's founders was still living. In there long career they played with many talents including, Tom Evans, Rudy Lewis, Ben E. King, The Five Crowns, and Psychedelic Steppenwolves. They recorded on many labels including Atlantic, Rhino, and Ripete. In there long music career they recorded many memorable songs, including "Up On The Roof," "There Goes My Baby," "Please Stay," "This Magic Moment," "Save The Last Dance For Me," "Some Kind Of Wonderful," "Under The Boardwalk," "I Count The Tears," "Saturday Night At The Movies," "On Broadway," and "Dance With Me."
