Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He was a Brevet Captain in the Union Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a Sergeant in Company M, 100th Pennsylvania Infantry for action on March 25, 1865 at Petersburg, Virginia. His citation reads "Capture of flag of 31st Georgia Infantry (C.S.A.)."
