Actor. Educated at the University of Mississippi, he had a B.A. degree in zoology and English literature, when he moved to New York and studied acting in the late 1960s. He was a member of the Will Geer Shakespeare Theater when he made his big screen debut in "Night of Bloody Horror" (1969). He also appeared in the films "Midway"(1976), "Twisted" (1986), "Extreme Justice" (1993) and "Foreign Student" (1994). He was best known as one of daytime television's most intriguing villains in the role as James Stenbeck on "As the World Turns", which he played on and off over a 30-year period (1980 to 2010). His other TV credits included "The Young and the Restless", "Search for Tomorrow", "Emergency!", "The Rockford Files" and "The Incredible Hulk". He also directed the CINE Golden Eagle Award winning TV movies "Mississippi Delta" (1984) and "The Wide Net" (1987). Diagnosed with mantle cell lymphoma in 1997, he wrote a book about his cancer battle experiences titled, "The Cancer War" in 2005. He died of the disease at age 67. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
