A memorial service was held on Dec. 9, 2006, at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Services in Salem.
Mr. Haynes was born on Nov. 18, 1946, in Portland to Woodrow and Vera (Abelson) Haynes. He was raised in Prairie City, then moved Salem. He graduated from South Salem High School in 1966. He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corp and served in Vietnam.
He is survived by his son, Cory F. Haynes, of Salem; sisters, Sharon Haynes, of Mt. Vernon, and Kelli Duhamel and her husband, Jerry, of Lincoln City; nephew, Eric Duhamel, of Lincoln City; niece, Jamie Duhamel, of Lincoln City; and stepfather, Eldon R. Johnson, of Silverton.
