U.S. Congressman. Moving to Rochester, New York, in 1850, he engaged in agricultural pursuit and was a trustee of the University of Rochester, (1853-65). In March 1853, he was elected as a Whig to the Thirty-third Congress and served until his resignation in October 1853. He then was president of the Wabash Railroad Company and retired from that business in 1875. He died of pneumonia at age 70 and his name is still honored by the University of Rochester community.
