Bill was born Sept. 4, 1959, in Manistique, the son of William "Beano" and Eileen (Martin) Olesak. He was raised in Manistique where he was a 1977 graduate of Manistique High School.
Bill was united in marriage to the former Christine Krusic on Oct. 11, 1986, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Manistique. They began their life together downstate where Bill worked for Great Lakes Gas Transmission Co. (TransCanada). In 2001, he was transferred to Gladstone.
Bill was a devoted member of All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone. During his high school years, Bill achieved the Eagle Award, the highest accomplishment as a Boy Scout. He was an avid hunter, and also enjoyed golfing, fishing, waterskiing and tennis. Bill took great pride in his boys and loved watching the many athletic activities they were involved in.
In addition to his wife, Chris, survivors include: sons, William, Nicholas and Andrew Olesak of Gladstone; Mother, Eileen (Eugene "Mutzy" Schneider) Olesak of Manistique; Mother-in-law, Mary Krusic of Manistique; brother, Steve (Martha) Olesak of Kalamazoo; sister, Patricia Olesak of Gladstone; 14 nieces and nephews, several cousins, aunts and uncles. His father, William (Beano), preceded Bill in death.
Bill's family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of William J. Olesak, Jr. will follow at 6 p.m. at All Saints Church in Gladstone with Fr. Ronald Timock officiating. Luncheon will follow in the All Saints Church Parish Hall. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery
