She grew up in Somverille, MA. She graduated from Quincy City Hospital School of Nursing and joined the U.S. Navy. She served in Navy hospitals on the East and West coasts and in Japan, and attained the rank of lieutenant. She was a past president of the Women's Division at Cummaquid Golf Club. At the time of her death, she was a member of the Oyster Harbors Club. She was predeceased by two sisters, Constance Kula of Enfield, CT, and Joan Bousquet of Sanbornton, NH; and two brothers, James Fitzpatrick of Boston, and Augustine J Fitzpatrick of Pembroke. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Edward J Gilsenan; two sons, Peter J Gilsenan and his wife, Susan and their son, Mark of East Haddam, CT, and Eric E Gilsenan and his wife, Karen and their son, Max of Napa, CA; brother, Paul D Fitzpatrick, of Bridgewater; and sister-in-law, Patty Fitzpatrick of Pembroke.
