He was preceded in death by two sons, James and Michael.
After graduating from the University of Illinois in 1936, he began his career with the Illinois Central Railroad, served in the US Navy retiring as a Captain in 1968, returned to the Illinois Central Railroad and retired in 1975. He was active in church, community and social organizations wherever he lived.
Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Virginia Scott; and his three sons and their wives, Scott F. and Paulette of Williamsburg, Va., Thomas K. and Alana of Chicago, Ill., and William M. and Mary Ann of St. Louis, Mo. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family expresses their appreciation to the Patriots Colony convalescent staff for the care and comfort provided to our dad.
Final arrangements are being provided by Bucktrout Funeral Home with internment at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
