Gladys W. Johnston, age 89, passed away on June 17, 2011. She was born on October 12, 1921 in Alice, Texas to Herbert Mandel and Millie Kopcky. She was self-employed as a beautician for almost 50 years. Some of the hobbies she loved included cooking, sewing clothes, knitting and crochet, working in her garden, reading and also loved fishing and camping on Padre Island. Mrs. Johnston was a devoted wife and loving mother, and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mae Steven Johnston; a sister, Lilly B. Collins and a sister, Gertrude King.

She is survived by two sisters: Dorothy Potts of Houston, Texas and Millie Hart of Georgia, along with a half-sister, Joyce Bahalik of Hondo, Texas; she is also survived by one son, Michael Johnston of Corpus Christi, Texas; two grandchildren: Melissa Johnston and Stephanie Johnston of Corpus Christi, Texas, along with six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., at Seaside Memorial Park.
