He came to the United States with his parents when he was five years old, they lived in the Chicago area where he went to school.
He married Bertha Geffee on March 3,1900 and they homesteaded seven miles northeast of Dupree in 1910. He farmed and ranched there until retiring and moving to Don Pratt Manor in 1962.
Surviving are a son John and two daughters Edna Anderson and Marie Ernst all of Dupree SD; a brother John in Lansing IL; nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and number of nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his wife and a daughter.
