Samuel Andrew Agnew, a son of Samuel and Elizabeth [née Seawright] Agnew, was born in the bounds of Greenville Presbyterian Church near Donalds in Abbeville County, South Carolina. His father was serving in the South Carolina Militia fighting for America's freedom when young Samuel was born in 1782.
At the age of 25, Samuel married Miss Malinda Dodson, daughter of Enoch and Elizabeth [née Legett] Dodson, also from Donalds, South Carolina. They would have the following known children:
