Professional Football Player. For seven seasons (1976 to 1982), he played at the left-cornerback and safety positions in the National and Canadian Football Leagues with the Denver Broncos, New York Jets, Calgary Stampeders, Toronto Argonauts and Ottawa Rough Riders. Born Abraham William Hardee, Jr., he attended Mulberry High School (Florida) and played collegiate football at Virginia Tech University, where he received honorable mention All-American status from the Associated Press in 1975. Signed by the Broncos as a non-drafted player, he appeared in 16 career NFL games before joining the CFL where achieved his greatest accomplishments on a professional level. He earned All-Star honors twice (1979 and 1980) and was a member of Ottawa's squad which appeared in the 1981 Grey Cup Game. Following his football career, Hardee served as an assistant high school principal in the Winter Haven-area. He was inducted into the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame in 2005. He died from injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident.
