US Congressman, Connecticut Governor, US Diplomat. Elected to represent Connecticut's 2nd District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1959 to 1961. Also served as Presidential Elector from Connecticut in 1940, Governor of Connecticut from 1949 to 1951, United States Ambassador to India from 1951 to 1953, United States Ambassador to Nepal from 1951 to 1953, and United States Ambassador At-Large from 1961 to 1963.
