William Rochester's home age 7 by 1880 Census is Cherokee, Alabama. He was there with both his parents, younger brother Wiley and sister Elma. By 1880 Census of William's wife to be, Sarah Atkinson was age 2 home in Henry, Georgia. With parents, older brother John and younger baby sister Henretta. Merry was born a few years later.

Environment in May 1838, The United States Army gathered the Cherokee's and their slaves into Georgia camps. Then they marched to the west to Oklahoma in what was known as the "Trail of Tears."
The War for Southern Independence (1861 - 1865), Reconstruction Act of Congress(1867 - 1877)passes the Civil Rights Act.

The Atkinson family Susan C & John lived in Henry, Georgia from about 1854-1883 and the kids were all born there. Susan C passed away Sept1882 the same year Mary Madgalene the youngest was born. John remarried 1883 to an older Mary Grantham.No known kids.

After the Spanish-American War1898, Residence found in Graysville, Alabama. John head of house and Mary lived together with the Grantham in-laws and John Jr Atkinson(Unknown is residence of the three Atkinson sisters after 1880 to abt1890).

Second wife Mary passed away Jan1905 and John remarried to younger Bettie Wiggins the same year. No known kids. Their residence Precinct 33, Jefferson, Alabama to about 1928 when John died. John died further in Anniston, Calhoun, Alabama while visiting his Atkinson? sister, not sure which one.

My guess is that the John Atkinson's sister may have been taking care of John's and Susan's three daughters Sarah Octavia(b1878Ga,m1897Al),Henrietta(b1880Ga,m1895Al-Tx), and Mary Madgalene(b1882Ga,m1894Al). Or maybe the daughters stayed with other Atkinson's in Georgia for school. The older brother John Jr from above was with father in and remained in Jefferson, Alabama for some time where he the son died.

Sarah Octavia Atkinson born and stayed in Henry,Georgia to about 1880. She married Feb1897 to William Marion Rochester in Etowah, Alabama where her younger sister Mary(Maddox) was.

In 1900, the Rochester's lived in Graysville, Jefferson, Alabama with Luther and Earl.

Rochester's have 11 KIDS marked by cemetery memorials(9 on portrait photos). Five sons and six daughters all found and linked below:
