The lifelong resident of Evans County was a member, board director and choir member of Union United Methodist Church. He was a World War II veteran and a retired farmer. He was a Mason of Ezel Lodge No. 335, a former member of Scottish Rite and Alee Temple.


He was a member and Past Patron of Martha Washington Chapter 300 of the Eastern Star and had served as Grand Deputy. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Farm the Bureau.


SURVIVORS: his wife, Dorothy Boyette Griner of Claxton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kenneth Griner of Swainsboro and William and Linda Griner of Claxton; a daughter, Wanda Mauncey of Hilton Head Island; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.


FUNERAL: 2 p.m. today at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home, burial in Beards Creek Cemetery with Masonic Rites.


REMEMBRANCES: American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or Union United Methodist Church.
