Professor emeritus of marketing and first chair of department of marketing, University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Previously taught at Ohio University and Case Institute of Technology. After retirement taught at University of Queensland in Australia and in Frankfort Germany area for the University of Maryland European Division. Business consultant and writer of articles in marketing journals. Served in World War II as supply officer, US Army, South Pacific. Later served in US Army Reserve as commander, intelligence detachment, advancing to grade of colonel. Elder and adult Bible class leader, First Presbyterian Church. Past president, Northeast Lincoln Rotary Club. Counselor, Service Corps of Retired Executives. Survivors include wife, Marian C.; daughters, sons-in-law, Carolyn M. and Thomas Fricke, Kalamazoo, Michigan, Martha J. and Darrell L. Weiss, Alpharetta, Georgia; son, Bruce E., Lincoln; four grandchildren, Ian, Lana, Derrick, Mitchell; cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, brothers and sister. Memorial services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2008, First Presbyterian Church, 840 S. 17th Street, Lincoln, NE 68508, The Rev. Dr. Brent O. Johnston officiating. Cremation. No visitation.
