U.S. Congressman. He graduated from the law department of Northwestern University Illinois, in 1895, was admitted to the bar in 1896 and commenced to practice law in Allegan, Michigan. He was prosecuting attorney for Allegan County, (1904-10) and elected as a Republican to the Seventy-fourth Congress and to the next thirteen succeeding Congresses, serving (1935-63). Not a candidate for re-nomination, he lived in retirement until his death.
