Almon attended school until he was age 17 years then worked for a few years for his father's Columbian Mills at Greenville in New Hampshire.
Then he went to Taunton in Massachusetts where he was employed in the cloth room of the Whittenton Mills.
He then went to Holyoke, then to Palmer, then to Lowell where he was overseer of the Lawrence Mills for thirteen years.
He was next an overseer for three years at the Falls Mills of Norwich in Connecticut.
In 1900 he became superintendent of the Jackson Mills at Nashua where he has since been employed.
He was a member of Granite Lodge #1; Independent Order of Odd Fellows of Nashua; Chevalier Lodge #2; Knights of Pythias of Lowell. He was a member of Crown Hill Baptist Church and its clerk and superintendent of its Sunday School.
