Grant Luther Halmrast was born Sept. 2, 1935, in Edinburg, ND, to the Rev. Gustav and Edith (Wehlander) Halmrast. He later lived in Grygla and Mentor, MN, where he graduated from high school. He completed a two-year enlistment in the United States Army in 1956.
On June 14, 1959, he married Marlys Wang of Fertile, MN.
He was employed with North Central Airlines, later merging into Northwest, for 39 years.
He retired in September 1997 and was diagnosed with cancer in February 1998. He died Oct, 17.
The funeral was Thursday, Oct. 21, in Living Word Lutheran Church, Eagan. MN. Burial was at Fort Snelling Cemetery.
