U.S. Congressman. He graduated from the Victor Academy New York, moved to Detroit, Michigan, in 1844, engaged in agricultural pursuits and was an alderman of Detroit, (1863-65). In 1873, he was elected as a Republican to the Forty-third Congress, serving until 1875. An unsuccessful for reelection, he resumed his agricultural pursuits and was a regent of the University of Michigan, from 1888, until his death at age 61.
