Actor. He was an American actor in the 20th century. Never a leading man role, he was a background supporting actor. He appeared in films including "Sherlock Holmes and Secret Weapon" in uncredited role in 1942, "He Stayed for Breakfast" in an uncredited role in 1940, "The Black Room" in an uncredited role as a servant in 1935, "We Live Again" in an uncredited role as a prisoner in 1934, and with speaking roles, "Supernatural" in 1933, and "White Zombie" in 1932. Born George Wyen Berliner, he was the son of George Berliner and his wife Mary Nunn. He went to Canada in 1912, before residing in New York City. During World War I, he served in Co F 25 Engr and Co B 40 Engr, discharged at the rank of sergeant on June 21, 1918. He changed his name to George Burr Macannan after 1930 and going to Hollywood. The United States Veteran Administration has him listed under both names. He never married. In 1930 he published a letter written by President Abraham Lincoln in November of 1864 to Mrs. Bixly of Boston, Massachusetts, who had lost five sons in the American Civil War. In 1931, he listed his occupation as a publisher in his own print shop.
