Bill was born on July 9, 1917, in Manitowoc, son of the late William and Emma (Bedford) Klein. He attended Manitowoc Public Schools and Silver Lake College for two years. He served in the United State Navy as a Fireman First Class. He married Beatrice O'Hearn on Aug. 31, 1940, at Holy Innocents Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on Feb. 11, 1982. Bill work for the Chicago & North Western Railroad for seven years. He was ordained by Bishop Mark Schmitt as a minister of the gospel on Feb. 16, 1974, at St. Paul Catholic Church. He was the sexton at Evergreen Cemetery and was the associate pastor at St. Paul Catholic Church for many years. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. Survivors include two sons, William J. (Mary) Klein, Manitowoc; John M. (Marcia) Klein, West Bend; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Muriel Miller, Manitowoc; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mary and Bill Salutz, Green Bay; Pat Anderson, Green Bay; Ed Coffin, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beatrice Klein; three sisters; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at St. Francis of Assisi Church-Marshall Site, South 21st and Marshall Streets, Manitowoc. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
