Basketball Coach. Doc Cooke coached several sports at the University of Minnesota, including basketball from 1897 to 1925. Two of him teams, in 1902 and 1919, were Helms Athletic Foundation National Champions. He was also a professor and served in various other roles, including assistant athletic director, in his tenure at the university, which ran from 1897 to 1936. Cooke Hall on the university campus is named after him.
