Continental Congressman, US Congressman, US Senator. He entered the Revolutionary War as a Lieutenant and was later promoted to the rank of Major. He was first appointed to serve in the Continental Congress from Delaware in 10786, then later elected to the United States Senate to represent Delaware, serving from 1793 to 1794. He was lastly elected to the United States House of Representatives from Delaware and served from 1795 to 1797.
