As a member of Grace United Methodist church, he also served as the director of music and the Grace Choir for over 30 years.
Merlyn was a US Army Veteran, serving as a member of the US ARMY BAND.
Merlyn was a father figure for many of his students at the college. Father Merlyn help to guide and mold many a young music student. Because of his inspiration.,his teachings have been carried all over the world by his students.
