Acclaimed Singer. Fondly remembered as one of Israel's greatest singers. Ofra came from Hatikva, a poor part of Tel Aviv. From there she rose to be one of Israel's few International known singers. In 1983, she represented Israel in the Eurovision song contest. The song "Chai" was awarded second place. She also performed at the 1994 Nobel Peace Prize award presentation in Oslo, Norway. Ofra had a great hit with the song "Im Nin Alu." Her album 'Shaday' sold over a million copies world wide. In the last years of her life, she appeared in many projects, among them the soundtrack for the film "Prince of Egypt." She died at the Sheba hospital in Tel Aviv. (bio by: Phil)
