He was born Oct. 11, 1923, in Menard County, the son of Herman and Edythe Sturgis Koster. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel M. Bell.
Mr. Koster was a resident of Springfield for most of his life. He retired in 1985 from Ralph Blalock Restaurant Supply, where he was employed for 15 years as a delivery man. He was a member of Fifth Presbyterian Church, where he was an ordained elder and deacon and had served on the trustee board.
Survivors: a daughter, Mae Marie Koster of Springfield; two nieces; a nephew; and a cousin.
Graveside services: 1 p.m. Friday, Oak Ridge Cemetery, with Glenys Hamer CLP officiating. Memorial services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Fifth Presbyterian Church.
