Maryland Governor, US Senator, Continental Congressman. Served as the Governor of Maryland from 1797 until his death in 1798. Also served as a Member of the Maryland State House of Delegates from 1777 to 1780, Delegate to the Continental Congress from Maryland from 1778 to 1780, and 1785 to 1786, Member of the Maryland State Senate from 1780 to 1790, and United States Senator from Maryland from 1789 to 1797.
