Ethelyn Hicks "Boots" Dean of Batesville, formerly of Sledge,74 a retired English teacher and homemaker, died of cancer Friday, December 21, 2001, at her home.
Services were Sunday, December 23, at First Baptist Church in Sledge with burial in the Marks Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home of Marks had charge.
She was a lifelong resident of Sledge, before moving to Batesville two years ago. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Sledge, where she taught Sunday School.
She was a graduate of Sledge High School and Blue Mountain College and taught English at Sledge High School, Provine High School in Jackson, Anguilla High School in Anguilla, North Delta School in Como and Pleasant Grove.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wesson "Bob" Dean, Sr.
She leaves three sons, Robert Wesson Dean, Jr. of Madison, Edward Fox Dean of Batesville, and Lee Hicks Dean of Oxford; two sisters, Betty Wiggins of Atlanta, GA and Billie Morrow of Webb; and six grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Sledge or to North Mississippi Baptist Hospice Care in Oxford.
