Floyd E. Gowen, age 67, died Sunday night
as a result of injuries received in a head-on collision on Highway 36, just outside the Florence city limits.
He died in Western Lane Hospital about four hours after the 4:15 p.m. accident.
He was driving a 1937 Chevrolet coupe when hit by a 1956 DeSoto which was driving
on the wrong side of the road.
Seven others suffered non life threatening injuries and were released from hospital.
Mr. Gowen was a resident of Cushman.
