Rites Thursday for Ole O. Dahl, First Businessman in Litchville
The funeral service for Ole O. Dahl, 79, who passed away on January 23, 1949, was held on Thursday at the First Lutheran Church in Litchville with Rev. Elias Kristensen officiating. Emmett Haugen of Oakes sang "Softly and Tenderly," "There is No Night There" and a Norwegian hymn. Accompanist was Mrs. Bernt Christianson.
Pallbearers were Theron Strinden, Alfred Strinden, Keith Strinden, Ole Grindahl, Trygve Berger and Erling Berger.
Mr. Dahl is survived by: a son, Ordean Dahl of our city and a daughter, Mrs. Chester Ahlin of Oakes.
Mrs. Ole Dahl died November 2, 1947 and her funeral was the last one conducted in First Lutheran Church until Thursday when Mr. Dahl was laid to rest.
Memorial gifts were numerous and attested to the kindly feeling toward the pioneer, good neighbor and faithful friend that Mr. Dahl had always been.
Out-of-town folks attending the funeral service were: Erling Berger, West Fargo; Ole Grindahl, Fargo; Mrs. Harold Olson, Valley City; Mrs. Berger and Trygve Berger, Fort Ransom; Mr. and Mrs. A.V. Dahl and Kenny Dahl, Morris, MN and Miss Bessie Quamme, Fargo.
Burial was in the Litchville Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were by Oakes Funeral Home, Oakes, North Dakota.
