The Sedalia Democrat, Sedalia, Missouri, Tuesday, February 3, 1959, Page 2, Col. 2: Thornton Porter, 84, died unexpectedly Saturday at Carrollton, where he was stricken with a heart attack just as he was entering the Carrollton Democrat offices. Mr. Porter was a son of pioneer Pettis Countians, Lacy and Sallie Porter, who resided in the Hughesville community in earlier days. In recent years he had made his home at DeWitt, Mo. Surviving are a wife, daughter, Mrs. Paul Griffith DeWitt, a sister, Mrs. Betty Belt, 1008 South Ohio, and a nephew, Lacy Belt, 1425 South Sneed. The sister and Mr. and Mrs. Lacy Belt, attended the funeral services at DeWitt Methodist Church Monday afternoon. Burial was in DeWitt Cemetery.
