Doris was a lifelong active member of the Wiley Heights Covenant Church and for many years taught adult Old Testament History. She also taught Sunday School in Wiley City and Tampico and often played the piano at the Union Gospel Mission. She volunteered at the Yakima Valley Museum.
For the past many years the highlight of her week was getting together with her friends for coffee on Tuesday morning. Doris loved her family and enjoyed visits from her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. She loved recalling family stories, and sharing her Swedish heritage.
She was preceded in death by her husband Norman Kelly, her brother and sister-in-law Bob and Helen Carlson, her nephew Dan Carlson and her son-in-law Dennis Emmenegger. She is survived by her children Kathy (Kelly) Emmenegger of Petersburg, Alaska, and Jim Kelly of Yakima; her brother Russ (and Gladys) Carlson of Yakima; her granddaughters Nicole (and Jim) Martin of Medford, Oregon and Jill (and Jim) Engell of Petersburg, Alaska; and six great-grandchildren, Brett Evens, Ian Martin, Keely Martin, Emma Engell, Kelly Engell and Jack Engell.
