Born in Moorhead, Minn., to Roy and Myrtle Briggs, Bev grew up in Great Falls, Mont.
She was a member of Phi Beta Phi sorority while attending Willamette University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts.
Bev married Travis Cross Oct. 30, 1949.
She was a resident of Portland for 36 years. The last 15 years she resided at Holladay Park Plaza and enjoyed the company of many, many friends. Always interested in current events, Bev kept up with the "goings on" in the lives of family and friends. She served patients and their loved ones as an active Providence St. Vincent Hospital volunteer. In 1997 the Travis and Beverly Cross Guest Housing Center at St. Vincent was named in her honor.
Survived by her sister, Lillian Larson of Salem; children, Craig Cross (Polly) of Seal Beach, Calif.; Sara Cross (David Pietka) of Portland; and Paul Cross (Michelle) of Oregon City; and grandchildren, Travis, April and Chelsea of Seal Beach, and Kayla and Colton of Oregon City, she was preceded in death by her husband, Travis in 2004 and daughter, Jennifer in 1997.
A celebration of life will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, in the panoramic penthouse of Holladay Park Plaza, 1300 N.E. 16th Ave., Portland, OR 97232.
Private interment will be in Willamette National Cemetery.
