Born in Gaithersburg, Md., she was the daughter of the late Merton and Olive May (Dove) Plaskett.
Shirley was a 70 year resident of Torrington and Harwinton.
She is survived by three sons, Tom Plaskett of Bristol, Gary Plaskett and Paul Montembeault both of Torrington; one daughter, Rhonda Granja of New Milford; her stepchildren, Dennis Rarick, Marjorie Rarick, Oscar Rarick III and Christine Donovan, all of Torrington; and three sisters, Helen Kessel of Maryland, Martha Burroughs of West Virginia and Nancy Goodwin of Bristol, 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, William Montembeault.
Friends and family may call on Friday, March 28, from noon to 2 p.m. at The Nutting-Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Rd., Litchfield. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery
