US Congressman. He studied law, was admitted to the bar, and commenced to practice law in Canandaigua, New York, in 1814. He served as judge advocate of the 24th Infantry Brigade, New York Militia, was Sheriff of Ontario County and a member of the New York State Assembly. In 1837, he was elected as a Whig to the Twenty-fifth Congress, serving until 1839. After his term, he was a member of the New York State Senate in 1841 and was judge of Ontario County, from 1847, until his death.
