U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Columbia College New York City, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1802 and commenced to practice law in Cooperstown, New York, in 1805. In 1813, he presented credentials as a Federalist elect to the Thirteenth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Representative-elect William Dowse and served until December 20, 1813, when he was succeeded by Isaac William, Jr., who contested the election. He then resumed the practice of law until his death at age 73.
