Garthia was the daughter of Alfred Pierson and Dorothea Stephens. Her siblings included: Alfred Pierson born 1907 and Almeda Pierson b. 1909.

They lived in Texas until about 1915 when they moved to Tulsa Oklahoma. There Garthia married a man named Douglas Jackson. They were married on 29 June 1929. Recently I found a second marriage for Garthia to Leonard Baldwin on the 22 August 1942. That marriage didn't last and as far as I know she kept using the name "Jackson", although she did have a few other boyfriends.

She worked as a domestic in the LA Area in the 1950s for notable persons including Gene Norman and J. Paul Getty. She also worked for The prominent Cardiologist Dr. Myron Prinzmetal. She loved the Prinzmetal children, Byron, William, and Anita, as much as her own grandchildren and told many tales about them. The Prinzmetal children called her "Gar-Gar" but her own grandchildren called her "Mama". She was a cook for Debra Paget during the time when she worked on "The Ten Commandments" and "Love Me Tender".

She was an Elvis fan along with her grandson, Jimmy. She was an excellent cook.

She was very fair and had one grey eye and one blue. Her only child was Tasceaie Carise Jackson, my husband's mother. She died of Cancer when she was only 51 years old.

She was a real character as I understand the stories. She slept with a gun under her pillow and was very willing to use a gun when she felt the need arise, but was also a warm and loving person who valued and adored her family.

She had 16 grandchildren.
