Helen L. Gilmore, 94, of Sioux City died Monday, Dec. 14, 1998, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home following a brief illness.
Services will be at 10:45 a.m. Friday at Holy Spirit Chapel, with the Rev. Gerald A. Hartz officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Vistiation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m., at Holy Spirit Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Mrs. Gilmore was born June 10, 1904, in Webb, Iowa, the daughter of Frank L. and Clara A. (Hagerty) Gowen. She graduated from Spencer (Iowa) High School in 1922. She moved to Sioux City in 1923 and graduated from Morningside College in 1927.
She married Roy Gilmore on Sept. 15, 1934, in South Sioux City. He died June 2, 1965, in Sioux City. She was employed as a social worker with Family Services for 27 years, prior to her association with Easter Seal Society for seven years. She retired in 1977.
She was a member of Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament and enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester and Linwood Gowen; a sister, Lucy Derham; and a niece.
