Fred W. Reineking Franklin March 1st, 1904

Last week the town of Herman lost another of its most respected sons, Mr. Fred W. Reineking, who was born here September 1852, the oldest son of Frederich and Charlotte Reineking, died Wednesday morning. He became seriously ill about four weeks ago. His trouble developed into appendicitis of a very serious nature. An operation was performed by Dr. Sieker from here, Dr. Reineking of Milwaukee, a brother, and two other Drs. of Sheboygan on Feb. 12th. It was a decidedly dangerous case. The patient seemed however, to rally after a few days, but the complicity of the case was too serious and after twelve days he died. He had not enjoyed good health for years, but had taken good care of himself and this had kept the crisis off for some time.
He was married to Miss Mary Arpke in Oct. '86. They had five sons and four daughters. The oldest son died eight years ago on account of an accident. His father died about twenty-three years ago; also one brother twelve years ago. He leaves one brother and two sisters, besides his wife and aged mother.
In his younger years he studied at the Mission House College and at the University of Wisconsin. He taught district schools for many years. The one in his own district being the last one and that he taught for 14 years. For about thirteen years he owned the parental farm and had been very successful both as teacher and as farmer. For several years he was one of the directors of Town Herman Mutual Ins. Co., and as such was the Treasurer at the time of his death. He had the respect and confidence of his fellowmen in a high degree and his death is mourned not only by his family and relatives but by the entire community. The funeral was held Friday afternoon, Rev. C. T. Martin officiating.
The church was still draped in mourning for Mr. H. Stuckerman and now will remain so for some time for Mr. Reineking, bacause these two were the organists for the many years the church has had the organ.
