The following was received rom Gary Edwards on 01 Mar 2014. R.H. "Rube" Brown was the leader of the Sutton faction during the notorious Sutton-Taylor feud. He was gunned down in a Cuero pool hall November 18, 1875. He had reportedly resigned his position as City Marshal on June 8, 1974 for unknown reasons. No one was ever arrested for his murder. It was reported that he was shot by Mason "Winchester" Smith Arnold and cousins William and James T. Taylor. The Sutton-Taylor feud in and around DeWitt County was one of the most violent in Texas History.
