US Congressman. A life-long resident of Morgantown, Virginia, he was admitted to the bar in June of 1832 and established his practice in his hometown. An Anti-Jacksonian candidate, he was elected to the US House of Representatives for one term, from March 4, 1844 until March 3, 1835. He resumed his law practice and, in 1842, was appointed prosecuting attorney for the Marion County circuit court. He served until his death in his native town.
