Daughter of Josiah Vandegrift and and Hannah Carman Herbert. Deborah Anna married John L. Adams 14 Jul 1855 —Bordentown Twp, Burlington, New Jersey (LDS record). By 1860 they had four children, George, William V, Elizabeth and Lilly M. Her husband John was a blacksmith. By 1863, she was a widow, John having died in the Civil War 1863.
By 1870 Deborah Anna was married to Nathan B. Covert who was also in Civil War, Company B NJ Volunteers, and they were living in Trenton, Mercer, NJ.
The 1900 U.S. census indicates they married in 1867, had one child with none living and her birth date of April 1836. Nathan's occupation is a trapper.
