Hazel was the daughter of Jessie Love McCarley Savage and Stuard Fillmore Savage. She married Robert "Dutch" Alvahdore Reed from Indiana, and they had four children, Claudine, Forest, Janice and Robert. They lived in Lawrence Co., Ohio in 1917-1918, where Dutch worked at Lawrence Furnace. They returned to Toledo in 1918 where Dutch took a job at Willys-Overland automotive factory. The Spanish flu epidemic hit in the fall. Dutch became ill in late October. Hazel gave birth to their youngest son, Bob, a few days after Dutch was hospitalized, and soon became ill herself. Dutch died on November 4, 1918. Hazel died from complications of the flu 12 days later. (Please Note: My paternal grandparents Alvah and Hazel's headstones have the wrong year of death, it was in 1918, taken from their death certificates, and I plan to have the dates corrected.)

Inscription

Birth and death dates in Bio do not match the tombstone. E.G. bio notes her passing in 1918 and the tombstone reads 1919. Note from Nora/granddaughter: the dates on her and Dutch's headstones are incorrect. I am going to try to have them fixed at some point, but i do have death certificates showing 1918.
