George was the 12th child and last of David Lott Sellers 1842-1919 and Jane Lavina (Howell) Sellers 1844-1981. Jane is eulogized by W.H. Parker in an article in unknown newspaper in which he describes how Jane died while George Mitchell nursed in her arms at only two weeks old.
George married Goldie Maxwell 1896-1969 the daughter of Kellar Maxwell 1866-1953 and Minnie Cordelia Limming Maxwell 1872-1954.
George and Goldie bore 5 children Frank Louis 1916-1995, Elsie Christine 1918-1997, George Mitchell Jr. 1919-2005, Mildred, and David Lee 1932-1989.
